What better way to kick off the holiday season than a fun community event? Our Barnes & Noble Book Fair this past Friday was just that! Our much-anticipated event did not disappoint this year. As always, the night was just as much about supporting the school as it was a great way for our community to come together and enjoy some performances by our bilingual students.
We started the evening with French story time in the store’s children’s area, followed an hour later by singing performances from our 2nd-5th grade elementary students.
It was impressive to see them switch from French to English songs with great ease as they excitedly shared the songs they had so thoroughly rehearsed with their teachers. Finally, we concluded the performances with some dual-language poetry readings from our elementary and middle school students. Some of the poems had even been written by the students themselves!
While the students were performing, our parent volunteers managed an informative welcome table and distributed raffle tickets for every $25 spent by our community members and the generous store visitors who chose to support our school. A fun parent-hosted ornament-making craft station was another popular stop for our students as well as for the other Barnes & Noble clients visiting the store. Needless to say, this is certainly another fun community event in the books for the International School of Orange County! We have highlighted some of the best moments from the evening in the gallery below. We hope you enjoy!
