11 songs, one play, 134 students!
Our 2018 Winterfest was a night to remember for our International School of Orange County community. Our students, from preschool to 8th grade, took their audience through a delightful musical and theatrical trip through time as we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the LILA network of French immersion schools. The first campus of the International School of Los Angeles was established in 1978, but has rapidly grown over the last decades to add 4 more locations in Orange County, West Valley, Los Feliz and Pasadena.
Our Kindergarten students opened the show with a rock’n’roll-inspired interpretation of the famous Queen song “We will rock you”, followed by our youngest students from preschool and pre-K who sang the alphabet song in French and English.
For over one and a half hour, International School of Orange County students navigated through French and English success songs of the past 40 years with the same ease, from Charles Aznavour’s classics to Michael Jackson’s world hits. The perfect demonstration that one is richer when speaking another language.
To conclude the show, our middle school students took us through a nostalgic journey with a lovely play featuring memorable moments in American and French pop culture since 1978.
Check out our slideshow below which highlights some of the best moments of this memorable night!
