Alejandra Castellanos
6th Grade Spanish Teacher
Alejandra is a passionate and experienced Spanish teacher currently working at the International School. Her academic journey started at UC Irvine, where she earned her master's degree in Spanish. She continues to expand her knowledge in the field, as she is currently finalizing her PhD in Spanish literature, having achieved ABD status in 2022.
Born and raised in Mexico, Alejandra brings a rich cultural perspective to her teaching approach. During her time in Mexico, she taught students from kindergarten to 6th grade, laying a strong foundation for her teaching career. In 2018, she relocated to the United States and has since been teaching Spanish to undergraduate students at UCI and Occidental College. This experience, coupled with her personal journey of learning English upon moving to California, gives her unique insights into language acquisition.
Outside the classroom, Alejandra enjoys reading, writing, and watching movies. She cherishes spending time with her family and friends, and never misses an opportunity to dance to Latin music. Her love for her culture and language is infectious, making her a beloved figure among her students.
